Dr Ioannis Liakas
Entrepreneur and Aesthetic Doctor of the Year at the Great British Enterpreneur Awards 2019!!
I was surprised and very honoured to have been nominated for “Entrepreneur of the Year” at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, but even more delighted to see our Medical Director Dr Ioannis Liakas last Saturday, 6 July, being awarded the accolade of Highly Commended for “Aesthetic Doctor of the Year” at the Safety in Beauty Diamond Awards 2019.
The event was a glitzy affair in London’s Hilton, amazingly organised by the founder of the Safety in Beauty Campaign, Antonia Mariconda, and her team for a fifth year. It was third time lucky for us , as we had been already finalists for “Aesthetics Medical Clinic of the Year” in 2017 and 2018.
In the beginning, we introduced a strict code of practice. All our aesthetic procedures are performed by highly qualified doctors. All our treatments include free consultation, preparation and thorough aftercare. We use only top-of-the-range products, while providing them at reasonable prices. Finally, we created a new concept of space and multi-sensory experience for our clients.
Here at Vie Aesthetics and BREATH Medical Aesthetic, we all know Dr Liakas for the exceptional medical practitioner and mentor he is- a real asset for the field of Aesthetic medicine. He uses the most advanced techniques with excellence and total commitment to patient safety, in a very caring and friendly manner. We feel really blessed to have him at Vie and BREATH and I m sure you will join me, alongside our whole team, in congratulating him!
On the night, a delighted Dr Liakas said, “Words can’t express how honoured I feel to have been nominated for this award and to find myself as one of the UK 11 finalists, among highly esteemed colleagues. To receive Highly Commended is amazing and great news for the whole team and our clients. At Vie Aesthetics and BREATH, we pride ourselves in bringing the latest aesthetic treatments to the UK, with a total commitment to patient safety.”
This recognition is, from a personal perspective, heartening and exciting. But from a wider perspective, I think the reward runs deeper. I see it as some kind of justification for the vision that we set ourselves – that is to provide the highest quality service with a focus on ethics, safety and excellent customer care.
When Dr Liakas and I launched Vie Aesthetics in 2013, the UK beauty and aesthetics industry was alarmingly unregulated. That meant procedures can be performed by largely untrained staff, with an insufficient level of expertise. This is a world too in which customers could also find themselves flooded with mis-representation, ageism, and unrealistic images and messages, leading to heightened insecurities, unfair expectations and potentially ill-advised choices. Our goal was to not only create a financially successful business, and introduce innovative treatments, but to also challenge those industry flaws.
These are values we’ve never swayed from. Over the last six-plus years we are delighted to have seen our profile rise and our clientele grow, resulting in steady expansion.

Of course, the awards and nominations are lovely and hugely humbling and satisfying, and it remains to be seen what happens with my Entrepreneur of the Year nomination, but I guess they still can’t account for what truly matters – total client satisfaction, pride in our work and our amazing and vibrant team.
